The IETE centre was inaugurated on 14^th May 2005 by the then President Lt. Gen. D. P. Sehgal with the blessings of Hon'ble Shri Inder Singh Namdhari, The Hon'ble Speaker of Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha.

This was the 52^nd centre in the 52^nd year of the IETE in service.

The Founder Chairman was Dr. R. K. Singh where as Hony Secretary was Prof. Umesh Kumar and Honorary Treasurer Dr. Arun Kumar. . At present Chairman of the Centre is Prof Umesh Kumar , Honorary Secretary of the Institution is Sh Ajay Kumar and Asst Prof Gaurishankar Gupta is the honorary Treasurer of the Centre.

In 2008 the examination centre was accorded to the Ranchi centre and from then onwards the centre is hosting the examinations for Diploma and Associate Membership to the student members.
